Volkswagen India has finally showcased the most anticipated Volkswagen Taigun facelift SUV in the Indian market. It reveals that the company even declared that the production of the new Taigun has started at its Pune plant.
The SUV’s front fascia and side profile have been fully exposed. However, the rear section stays undisclosed. The new Taigun is designed to be introduced in India on April 9, 2026. The pre-bookings are hoped to start shortly. The deliveries are supposed to begin in May 2026.
The teaser of Volkswagen Taigun 2026, Taigun facelift, shows a connected front LED light bar and illuminated logo. The car is departure from the segmented setup seen on competitors such as the Skoda Kushaq. The rear retains its connected taillight design, but with a more forceful C-shaped design. The changes line up the Taigun’s styling with Volkswagen’s global SUV design language. It boosts the visual presence in the competitive mid-size compact SUV market in India.
Inside, the Taigun design updates facelift is hoped to give a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, rear-seat massage function, and upgraded infotainment with an AI assistant. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and better touchscreen interface will modernise the cabin. The present comforts include staying the ventilated seats and wireless charging. These updates mirror enhancements in the Skoda Kushaq facelift. The new Taigun model in India is aimed at keeping the Taigun competitive against more market competitors.
The facelift keeps the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. Moreover, it brings a new 8-speed torque converter routine for the smaller engine. It also replaces the 6-speed unit. The 1.0 TSI will perform with a 6-speed manual option. However, the 1.5 TSI stays connected with a 7-speed DSG. This automatic tweak is shared with the Skoda Kushaq facelift. It is aimed at improving modification and effectiveness without changing the proven engine lineup.
